Campaign Photography
What Is Campaign Photography?
Campaign Photography is a mix between photo journalism and documentary photography which protests against a person, place or thing or for a person, place or thing.
My Campaigns...
For My First Campaign...
Child Abuse...
Child Abuse means hitting a child (a young person aged 17 or younger). Last year in 2017 in the United Kingdom over 58,000 Children were abused alone by their parents/carers and were in need of help by the NSPCC.
I chose this campaign because people need to know and need to be a were of the pain that children are put through, no matter what the age. Most children who are under the age of one die because of their guardians and the abuse they receive.
Around 5 Children die every day because they are abused. One in Three girls and One in Five boys are sexually abused before they reach Eighteen.
I like the look of the image above as it is an image of an young boy all alone against a rotting wall in small clothes that are ripped. He has been positioned with his head in his arms to give the impression that he is scared of what might happen next.
My Plan...
In my shoot I want to have an image of a child with makeup on their face to look like they have bruises and cuts on their face. I want to use Chiaroscuro to show that the child is lonely and may need help. I will use a Small Depth Of Field, and I will make the image slightly Under Exposed to make the image darker.
For My Second Campaign...
Racism...
Racism is a huge thing in the UK. Racism makes people of all different Races feel down, unwanted and unloved. People who are prejudice and have a certain hatred to people of another race or nationality.
Racism is when someone's treated differently or unfairly just because of their race or culture. When a decision is made or opinion formed without knowledge, thought or reason, because of their religion or nationality.
I like the Idea of this image because it shows that people of a different nationality are being put down by people and that the Google options are what they think of themselves after they have been bullied by racism.
My Plan...
Firstly, I would like to get a person and get them against a black or dully coloured background, and then tell them to put a realistic sad face on and take a picture of them.
Secondly, I would upload the image onto my computer and open it in PhotoPlus X6 (Or another photo editor) and then I would edit it to make the background a bit darker.
Thirdly I Would edit the image to put the Google tab on it and get the writing to look like it does in the example above.
Finally I would add an Anti-Bullying logo in one of the top corners.

My First Shoot...
Racism
For my first shoot I had Abbey put on one of the beer mat face masks.
These were some of the first photographs I took.
For Third and Final Campaign...
Self Harm...
Self-harm is when you hurt yourself as a way of dealing with very difficult feelings, painful memories or overwhelming situations and experiences.
After self-harming you may feel a short-term sense of release, but the cause of your distress is unlikely to have gone away. Self-harm can also bring up very difficult emotions and could make you feel worse.
I find that the photograph above looks good as a Campaigning photo against self harm. I like the idea of it because it just shows us that people don't always say it but they do want the help they need.
My Plan...
For my own shoot I would like to get some plasters and write the words 'HELP', 'UNWANTED', 'UGLY' or 'UNLOVED' across them.
I would like to take the photo with a small Depth of Field and so it is slightly under exposed so the edges are dark but then I would like to have a light shining down onto it to make sure that the word help is under the 'spotlight' to give the word more emphasis.
I would like the background of the image to be on a hard floor or on a wooden floor.

ASPIRE
ASPIRE is a new charity promoting the health and well being of young adults, who due to various circumstances are living in foster care.
Research...
I researched some campaigns online and here is what I found...
THE FOSTERING NETWORK said "We stand up for fostering, foster families and their fostered children, and young people. And we campaign to make foster care better."
I like the idea of the image above as it is brightly coloured has lots of information on it about the children and it has more information about where you can foster these children and how you can contact them by website or phone number.
This Poster isn't as informative as the other image but the line "FOSTER PARENTS GIVE HOPE. BE ONE." shows us that there Doesn't have to be a lot of information on the image there just has to be a sentence or two that sends a strong message.
This one, unlike the others, is lighter and shows a happy atmosphere just with it being slightly over exposed. and then it has the family made out of paper that shows that there are such things as happy families, which give people hope, and that shows that fostering a child could give him/her a chance to be happy and get them out of a fostering system.
My Plan...
My plan is to use somebodies hands cupped together and make it slightly over exposed and then make up a slogan like, "YOU MIGHT BE TEMPORARY IN THEIR LIFES. AND THEY MIGHT BE TEMPORARY IN YOURS, BUT THERE IS NOTHING TEMPORARY ABOUT THE LOVE THAT YOU SHARE!" because that shows a strong message.
My Second Sh00t...
This image is my least favourite image for obvious reasons, as it is under exposed.
This image is my favourite as it is slightly over exposed to make it look brighter and it looks really good.
Edited Image...
My third Shoot...
For this shoot I would like to use a models hands and use her wrists with a lifeline going across them both. This message will portray the seriousness of self harming. I would like to put a message on there I want it to say something like "My mind was a mess, then I found a razor... Now my body is a mess too."
This is what I want the photo itself to look like before editing. but I want the exposure to be brighter and the cuts to me darker.
All three of these images are too under exposed and so I am going to get some more where you can actually see the picture
This lesson I helped Abbey With her campaign which was Domestic Abuse.
